De Ranke Boston Lager 75cl

This version of Boston Lager is based on the Amer-Amer recipe, where the American influence is already evident, but brewed with lager yeast. The coloured malts give the beer a soft, almost nutty biscuit flavour, complemented by the delicious, refined taste of noble hops, as can only be achieved in a low-fermentation beer.
The inspiration for this beer is based on the American East Coast, where Boston Lager beers have long been a success story. Due to the 1930s Prohibition, many American breweries closed their doors. Some of them were reopened when German immigrants settled in the United States. In their homeland, only low-fermentation beers were brewed and once in the United States, they applied this familiar technique in the abandoned American breweries. This was done on installations that were specifically built for brewing top-fermenting beers. Thus was born this 'hybrid' beer style known as Boston Lager. Around the same time, so-called 'steam' beers developed in a similar way on the West Coast.
